Welcome to the first blog inspired by, “The Legend of Will Hardy and Gordo the Stud.” I hope you will enjoy these brief golf and book related messages,

Today is a big day as it marks the official launch of my new website. Whether you are a golfer or just someone who likes a good read, I hope my book and these upcoming weekly messages, give you a nice break from your hectic life. In today’s edition, I just want to explain myself and the strange quote on the cover of the website, “A good guy who simply loves, (and occasionally hates) golf.

The first part of that statement speaks for itself as there are so many reasons to love this game. It’s the “hate” part that gets a little dodgy.

Here’s the thing…no matter how much confidence you bring to the first tee, there are simply days when golf can make you miserable. No joke! You can’t find your golf swing. You’re embarrassed in front of your companions. You come home and your wife (or husband) knows you’re miserable the minute they see your face. You swear to give it all up and take up pickleball. And then after a few days, you grab your clubs again, but you suck and you suck and you suck, until you get to about the 14th hole, when suddenly, and for no good reason, you hit a great shot…and another, and another. You end up playing holes 14 through 18 only 2 over par and you swear this is the greatest game on earth and can’t wait to get back on the course again.

So what is the moral of the story? Golf is wonderful and horrible, and guilty of initiating temporary idiocy. Fortunately, it should only last a few hours and it’s not contagious, but it is highly addictive.

Enjoy, but at your own risk.
